The enlightened governments strengthened the positions of the Crown. From Madrid, reports and memorials reflected on patronage. Some brought back the memory of the relations between civil and spiritual authority to the beginnings of Christianity, promoting a broad reflection both on the right of patronage and on its diplomatic projections and on pastoral and missionary action. This research analyzes these testimonies and focuses on the analysis of the coadjutories with future succession that, together with the diocesan spoliations, vacant sees, prebends and dispensations, occupied a central part of the controversies, explaining the semantics of these debates. ...
