Eco-friendly ganpati idols are winning hearts this Ganesh Chaturthi; see pics
True to the spirit of the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi that stands for togetherness and sustainability, many eco-friendly ganapatis have been created for this year's celebrations which will end on September 12 with "visarjan" of Ganesha idols. Notably, growing environmental concerns have led to the innovation of eco-friendly Ganesha idols — from coconut to chocolates, there are a whole range of ingredients that are being creatively used to fashion idols that are not just beautiful, but also sustainable. Here's a look at the most popular ones this year.
Harjinder Singh Kukreja, a Sikh restaurateur and chocolatier in Ludhiana, prepared an edible Ganpati idol with pure dark Belgian chocolate this year. For visarjan, the idol was immersed in milk; and the chocolate milkshake was served to underprivileged children.(Source: Express photo by Gurmeet Singh)
