As the musicians tuned their instruments, each took their turn on stage, fingers dancing across the keys. In contrast, the harmonies of the Tianjin Juilliard Festival Orchestra — comprising musicians from the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra and the Chinese string quartet QingXin Ensemble — swelled around them.
