Some Bulgarian terms show some of these ancient elements. We will illustrate this below with examples of words with Mediterranean suffixes in plant names or parts. In the second part of the essay, the focus is on Bulgarian words, whose earlier form already existed in Proto-Slavic. But their origin cannot be traced back easily to an early primary stage of Proto-Indo-European (primary PIE). These Proto-Slavic words have cognates only in the European Indo-European languages. They have very likely been loaned only on European territory, and thus must be considered secondary Indo-European words, likely stemming from an unattested European language from Neolithic times. ...
