Lou Strik was a visual designer, graphic designer, illustrator, painter and draftsman. He is counted among the most famous Dutch graphic talents of the 20th century.

Strik felt kinship with the medieval Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Bruegel and admired the prints by Giovanni Battista Piranesi. Appreciation for his friend M. C. Escher is reflected in the architectural jokes that he applied in his work. Y bromide. T

After his education at the Art Academy in 's-Hertogenbosch, he took lessons at the Royal Academy in Amsterdam. As a pupil of Kuno Brinks he specialized in graphic arts. In 1952 he won in the Prix de Rome a 2nd prize for graphic arts. Since the 70s, he made name with the ex libris. Strik was a teacher at the Art Academies of 's-Hertogenbosch and Tilburg.
