This paper attempts to examine the regularity present in castle architecture, based not only on local but also on European monuments. Then, narrowing the focus, it aims to present the foreign influences present in the contemporary local castle architecture through the example of a single castle, Ozora. In the analysis of the castle, the goal of my paper is to define the artistic circles in which we can most likely seek the prototypes of the castle. In this, my basic concept was to harmonize the available biographical data regarding the builder, Filippo Scolari, with the results of archaeology and art history to date.Until recently, most researchers have shared the opinion that the castle of Ozora, with its regular ground plan and structural system, is unique in the local material.Based on the material available at home, it seems unquestionable that the castle of Ozora can be called traditional in early 15th-century Hungary, in the sense that its main architectural concepts, morphology, and detailing could even be an element of a development starting from the era of Louis the Great (1390s). At the same time, as far as the typology of the castle is concerned, a virtually unequivocal Northern Italian connection emerges. In its details, however, the Bohemian Gothic of the Wenceslas era was much more decisive, as was also the case with Sigismund's constructions.In this paper, I have attempted to raise the main problem areas and uncover the possible threads of a solution. However, proving an actual, direct relationship with a more narrowly defined Northern Italian area (specifically, information acquired by Pippo as ‘visual knowledge’ through his personal acquaintances and during his travels) or with a concrete individual can only be achieved through extensive Italian archival research and by taking stock of the more important contemporary monuments of castle architecture. A hazai művészettörténet-írás eddig kevés figyelmet szentelt a 14-15. század fordulóján épült főúri rezidenciáknak. Jelen dolgozat kísérletet tesz arra, hogy a várépítészetben jelen lévő szabályosságot vizsgálja nemcsak a hazai, hanem az európai emlékek alapján. Majd a témát leszűkítve, egyetlen várkastély, Ozora példáján keresztül mutassa be a korabeli hazai várépítészetben jelen lévő külföldi hatásokat. A várkastély elemzésében a dolgozatom célja, hogy meghatározzam azokat a művészeti köröket, melyekben a legvalószínűbb mértékben kereshetjük a várkastély előképeit. Ebben alapkoncepcióm az volt, hogy az építtetővel, Filipo Scolarival kapcsolatban összhangba hozzam a rendelkezésre álló életrajzi adatokat a régészet és művészettörténet eddigi eredményeivel. Az ozorai várkastélyról a legtöbb kutatónak egészen napjainkig az a véleménye alakult ki, hogy szabályos alaprajzi-és szerkezeti rendszerével egyedülálló a hazai anyagban. ...
