The contention in documenting these marginal and often numerically small movements is that they are among the most meaningful and valuable expressions of religion and spirituality in the contemporary world. This collection contains accounts of five poetic faiths, several of which have their roots in the 1990s, a decade in which the West was recovering from the ultra-materialist “Greed is Good” 1980s and the stock market crash of October 1987, a recovery that in part involved greater commitment to environmental causes and increased spiritual engagement.
