Rags to stitches

An exhibition in Delhi traces the stories and the themes within one of India’s oldest syles of embroidery, Kantha.

The aim of the textile pieces on display, in the form of shawls, bed covers to book and table covers, was to highlight the art of Kantha, derived from the Sanskrit word kantho, which meant rags.
