The Khajuraho Dance Festival promises to honour the traditional dance forms of the country.

With the carved temples of Khajuraho rising in the background, Odissi dancer Ranjana Gauhar will celebrate the love of Radha and Krishna enshrined in verses from the 12th century poem, Geet Govinda. For devotees of culture, the Khajuraho Dance Festival calls out for an annual pilgrimage to the temple town of Madhya Pradesh. Delhi-based Gauhar will open the 2016 edition today with a rendition about the secret passion of Radha and Krishna. The festival will be held till February 26, and feature an array of performances in Kathak, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Bharatanatyam by Rajendra Gangani, Methil Devika, Sharanya Chandran and Radhakrishnan Amritasruti, among others.
