The famous ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival recently announced the first list of speakers for its 12th edition, which is set to take place from January 24-28 at the Diggi Palace Hotel in Jaipur next year. This time, the festival boasts of some powerful women speakers who have defined and carved their own paths and encouraged many others along the way.
In the inspirational session, ‘Mithali Raj: The Warrior Skipper of Indian Cricket’, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team will talk about her journey and the hurdles she had to face. Raj will address gender stereotypes and skewed opportunities for women players, and the way forward for an environment that actually rewards grit and talent.
Singer Usha Uthup is also one of the speakers this time. She will be in conversation with Sanjoy K Roy in ‘I Believe in Music’, and will talk about what music means to her and her belief in its power.
Other speakers include Priyamvada Natarajan, Professor at Yale and author of Mapping the Heavens: The Radical Scientific Ideas That Reveal the Cosmos, Manisha Koirala who will talk about the physical and emotional upheavals of her life post the cancer diagnosis and Donna Zuckerberg, Silicon Valley-based classics scholar, who will be in conversation with biographer, historian and academic Patrick French and writer and editor Sharmila Sen.
There will also be a session titled ‘Finding Radha’, where her enigma will be explored and the speakers will probe how, rather paradoxically, she is still viewed with veneration, much more than Krishna’s legally-wedded wife, Rukmini.
