Bhupen Khakhar sets new record as painting fetches over 22 cr at Sotheby’s sale

Khakhar's painting was among the 29 works of 20th century Indian art that went under the hammer from the private collection of Swiss collectors Guy and Helen Barbier at the sale that realised a combined total of Rs 66.23 crore.

Bhupen Khakhar’s Two Men in Benares fetched a whopping Rs 22.39 crore at Sotheby’s Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction on Monday, setting a brand new record for the artist.
