Explained: How Vikram lander was found by an amateur enthusiast, and confirmed by NASA

Shanmuga Subramanian of Chennai compared two side-by-side images, one from before the crash and the other taken after. After receiving Subramanian's tip, NASA confirmed the identification.

On Monday, NASA announced that India’s Vikram lunar lander, which crashed on the Moon’s surface in September, has been found. This has been partly due to the efforts of an amateur space enthusiast.
